No part is small when everything is at stake.
Director of Photography.
No Small Roles is a 24-minute short film I shot as Director of Photography. Over a week of production, I worked with the director and crew to shape a story that lived through its performances and the quiet tension between them. The shoot tested endurance and instinct, and it reminded me that the best work comes from a team moving as one. The film’s message lingers in its title, that every spotlight hides a shadow.
In one of my favorite sequences of the film, we aimed to get into the subjective point of view of the protagonist as he had an anxiety attack, marking the points of the emotions down to color. In a quick, pivotal moment, we used inserts and special changing in the lighting, to get close to the character’s mentality.
